Kayaking is a great way to explore the Gulf of Oman. Being part of the Indian Ocean, the waters are often calm and clear. Large schools of fish, pods of dolphins, turtles and rays can be watched.
Greatest spots are Musandam and Bandar Khayran. Paddle in the quiet, secluded caverns and coves. It is a unique way to experience the scenic bays of Oman.
We recommend combining your kayak tour with walking on the beach, rock climbing, swimming, sun bathing, snorkeling or simply relaxing.
Stand Up Paddle Boarding
Stand up paddling is THE watersport of the moment.
It is the fastest growing sport in the world because everyone can paddle. One feels like walking on water.
It allows surfers to paddle farther into the ocean than is typical or paddle standing up as a sport unto itself. Ride breaking waves and glide long distances along Oman’s lovely coast, often using tail winds to aid the trip or in Muscat's mangrove woods. For the more experienced we offer exploration of wadi streams combined with some trekking.
The sport has gained popularity throughout the country in the past decade. The industry is well stocked with equipment making it a go-to kite surfing destination.
With 3165 km of white sandy beaches, beautiful blue water sand lagoons and world-class wave spots, Oman is a fantastic location for kite surfing. It is windy all year. Furthermore, there are areas with waves and others with flat water making it a very versatile destination for thrill seekers and novice surfers.
While beginners take courses or practice near Muscat, the advanced surfer finds one of the world’s most challenging kiting spots on Masirah Island. During the summer months, when the monsoon hits the island and waves are taller than a man, it is an El Dorado for serious surfers, offering cooler temperatures and high-speed winds.
However much of the coastline remains unexplored and if the wind speed and direction is right you could surf just about anywhere.
Elite offers tailor-made packages catering to all fitness levels and experience. Please contact us for details.
Oman is a great all round destination, where you find windsurfing spots at world class standard.
Like kiteboarding, the most extraordinary experience is during the summer months with wind and waves in different locations with different characteristics. Advanced surfers meet on Masirah island, amateurs surf further north.
We recommend you bring your own equipment, as the best surfing sites are in remote locations.
Unlike futuristic Dubai and austere Saudi Arabia, Oman is an altogether more laid back and hospitable destination with friendly people, lovely nature, rich culture and wonderful opportunities for trekking.
We offer tailor-made holidays from gentle walks to multi-day demanding treks in mountain or desert.
Trekking across the desert landscapes, riding camels through the Empty Quarter, exploring remote abandoned mountain villages, swimming in the warm Arabian seas or wadi streams, touring the true wilderness, haggling in the bustling souks, visiting the mosques and palaces of Muscat and ending with a romantic trip on a dhow. The wonderful thing is, you can do all of this in just one trip!
If you love fast cross-country and like to test yourself on back-country trails, Oman is the ideal track for you.
Although you bike almost the entire route, there will be some short steep climbs, or sections of stepped pathway, where you will have to carry or push your mountain bike. Generally, the riding conditions are excellent, on broad paths and sometimes on rough jeep roads. There are, however, some sections of technically demanding single and double tracks, some serious climbs and some exciting descents.
Apart from the emergency tool kit that you would take on any day ride, you will not be required to carry any luggage. Altitude is not a problem as the biking is mainly below the 2000 m mark. The support vehicle cannot generally follow the bikes. Average distance is 40 km per day.
