The Batinah

Half Day Salalah Tour

East Salalah

Travel along a scenic road lined with palm trees to Taqa village and castle, this town was once a major exporter of incense and horses. On the cliff of Khor Rouri, discover the ruins of the fortress and the palace of Sumhuram which is believed to belong to the Queen Sheba. Before reaching Mirbat, explore Bin Ali's tomb with its striking white domes. Lastly, stop by the beautiful Ayn Razat natural springs.

The Lost City
Duration: 8 hours; Distance: 480 km
The Rub Al Khali is the biggest sand desert on earth that Oman shares with Saudi Arabia. Leave Salalah behind heading northwards to the lost city of Ubar. Legend has it that the city and its inhabitants were buried under the sands as a punishment by God. On the way back to Salalah, pass by frankincense tree plantations, where the valuable resin is harvested by hand.
